Today, January 9, came out that the new Parliament building will cost N$700m. The architects responsible for the planning were paid N$500,000 according to Jakes Jacobs, secretary to the National Assembly towards The Namibian. The initial sum of construction costs were were estimated at N$573m. The new parliament will be built behind the old Tintenpalast.
The parliament is growing steadily leading to a higher demand of space. A logic consequence is to expand it. However, it is questionable whether a whole new building is needed than just expanding or renovating the old building which might possibly less expensive.
